If your ELKA shocks are due for a rebuild, need warranty support, or require replacement parts, one of the first things we may ask you for is the serial number from each shock.

The serial number allows us to identify the exact specifications of your shock and make sure we order the correct parts for servicing or repair. This can include shock shaft lengths, seals, internal components, and other parts specific to your shock.

The only problem? The serial numbers can be a little tricky to find.

Where Is the ELKA Shock Serial Number?

The serial number is stamped into the upper collar of the shock.

Depending on the vehicle and shock location, this number may be facing inward and can be difficult to see with the shock installed.

For front shocks, the serial number will typically be on the back or inward-facing side of the shock, closest to the engine.

For rear shocks, it will typically be on the back or inward-facing side, closest to the bedside or inside of the vehicle.

Because the number is stamped into the shock rather than printed on a sticker, you may need to adjust your lighting and viewing angle to see it clearly.

The Easiest Way to Find the Serial Number

For the best access, we recommend removing the wheel on the corner you are checking. This gives you much more room to see and reach the upper portion of the shock.

Once the wheel is removed:

1. Locate the upper collar of the ELKA shock.
2. Use a small penlight or flashlight to illuminate the back side of the collar.
3. Use a small inspection mirror to look around the back of the shock and locate the stamped serial number.
4. Write down the complete number or take a clear photo of it.

In some applications, you may also be able to reach a phone camera behind the shock and take a photo or video of the collar. Using your phone’s flash and zooming in on the photo afterward can sometimes make the serial number much easier to read. 

Why Do We Need Your ELKA Serial Numbers?

ELKA shocks can have different specifications depending on the vehicle, application, and shock configuration. The serial number helps identify exactly what is needed for your specific shock.

When your shocks need to be rebuilt or serviced, KRAVE may require these serial numbers before ordering parts. They can help us determine the correct:

• Shock shaft lengths
• Seals and rebuild components
• Replacement parts
• Shock-specific specifications
• Warranty information

Providing the serial numbers ahead of time helps us make sure we have the correct information and parts required for your shocks.

Make Sure to Check Each Shock

If you are having multiple shocks serviced, record the serial number from each individual shock rather than assuming they are all the same.

We recommend taking a clear photo of each serial number and noting which corner of the vehicle it came from, for example:

Front Driver: Serial Number
Front Passenger: Serial Number
Rear Driver: Serial Number
Rear Passenger: Serial Number

This makes it much easier to keep everything organized when arranging a rebuild, ordering parts, or working through a warranty concern.
