Some trucks get built once and parked in a garage.

This isn't one of them.

Over the years, this Tacoma has seen multiple iterations as its owner refined the setup, tested new equipment, and adapted the truck for different styles of travel and adventure. We've been fortunate enough to be part of that journey, watching the truck evolve from a capable off-road rig into a fully equipped overland platform built to explore well beyond the pavement.

The foundation of the build starts with a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road finished in Magnetic Grey Metallic. Sitting on ELKA Suspension 2.5 Reservoir Coilovers and Rear Shocks, paired with Dobinsons rear leaf springs, the truck strikes an excellent balance between everyday comfort and off-road performance.

Underneath, Nitro 5.29 gears help turn the 35-inch Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 tires with ease, while the polished Stealth Custom Series Gen5 wheels provide a classic look that perfectly suits the Tacoma platform. Up front, a C4 Fabrication oversized tire fitment kit helps create the clearance needed for the larger tire package.

Protection was a major focus throughout the build. The front end features Total Chaos gussets, a full OK Expedition skid plate package, Greenlane Offroad rock sliders, and a C4 Fabrication Overland front bumper. Recovery duties are handled by a COMEUP SOLO 9.5 winch, while the rear is protected by a matching C4 Fabrication high-clearance rear bumper equipped with a dual jerry can carrier.

For extended backcountry travel, the Tacoma was outfitted with an ARB Safari Snorkel, helping protect the engine from dust and debris while adding another layer of confidence when exploring remote terrain.

Lighting throughout the truck comes courtesy of Baja Designs, providing improved visibility on dark backroads, remote campsites, and late-night drives home from the trail.

Like any good overland build, the electrical system received significant attention. Dual AGM batteries work alongside a Blue Sea ML-ACR system and fuse blocks to provide reliable power management, while a Switch-Pros 8-switch panel makes controlling accessories simple and intuitive. An ARB Twin Compressor rounds out the system, ensuring air is always available when it's time to air down or air back up.

One of the most recent evolutions of the truck centres around camping and travel. A Kuat IBEX bed rack with Molle panels and crossbar risers supports an Intrepid Camp Gear Geo 2.5 rooftop tent, creating a comfortable and functional home base wherever the truck ends up. Whether it's a weekend in the mountains or a multi-day road trip, the setup is designed to get out there and stay out there.

What we love most about this Tacoma isn't any single modification. It's the fact that it has continuously evolved based on real-world use. Every change, every upgrade, and every adjustment came from experience. It's a truck that has been built, used, refined, and then used some more.

The result is a Tacoma that feels equally at home tackling technical trails, exploring remote backroads, or setting up camp at the end of a long day on the road.

We'd like to thank the owner Alex for continuing to trust KRAVE Automotive through every stage of the build. It's been incredible watching this Tacoma evolve over the years, and we're excited to see what the next chapter looks like.

Yeeew!!
